BPTO moves forward with program for system’s improvement with South Korea

The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) will implement, on February 5-12, 2020, the second step of the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP).

KSP program is a cooperative action developed by the Korean Intellectual Property Institute (KIPO), through which it shares its knowledge and technologies with countries interested in following its business model – the KIPOnet System.

Said system played an essential role in reducing the timeframe for patent grants in Korea – the 4th largest country in terms of patents granted – from 37 to 11 months.

The implementation of the KSP at the BPTO includes an analysis and proposal for an IP automation system; image search system for trademarks and industrial designs; prior art searches for patents; and benchmarking for electronic systems for the BPTO.
