On September 26, 2019, Ordinance No. 516 of the Ministry of Economy was published with the new official fee schedule for the services rendered by the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO).

In short, the schedule modifies the costs of some procedures and includes new trademark services, such as Division of Registration and Certification of International application for transmission to the International Bureau, in accordance with the implementation of the Madrid Protocol in Brazil. Therefore, it revokes the Annex to Ordinance of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade No. 39, of March 7, 2014, with the current BPTO’s official fees schedule.  Furthermore, the BPTO will still publish a resolution with the parameters for granting discounts over the official fees.

The Ordinance no. 516 will enter into force on October 02, 2019, along with the Madrid Protocol.
